For the past 18 years, Scientific Games has been producing all of the South Caroline Education Lottery’s games. This partnership has recently taken a leap forward after the Lottery awarded Scientific Games a new six-year contract. The contract pertains to the gaming solution provider’s Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership (SGEP) program that is aimed at helping the Lottery to bring in maximum profits which are to be used to support educational programs in the state.

Boosting An Existing Arrangement

The decision to extend the partnership with Scientific Games was a no-brainer for Scientific Games especially because of the company’s track record. Since they began working together back in 2002, Scientific Games has helped the South Caroline Education Lottery to rise to the third spot of the global instant game industry. In fact, Scientific Games has assisted the Lottery to boost its instant game sales by a whopping 10.6 percent.

“We are honored by the trust the South Carolina Education Lottery has placed in Scientific Games to fully manage their diverse instant game portfolio. Beginning and ending with analytics and insights, our SGEP program encompasses every aspect of the Lottery’s instant products – from game design through retail execution.”

John Schulz, Senior Vice President, Lottery Instant Products for Scientific Games. “

As per the terms of the extended partnership deal, Scientific Games will continue to offer full management and support services to the state lottery’s extensive portfolio of $10 instant games. This is, of course, a huge responsibility especially now that the lottery is currently one of the best-performing ones in the United States.

In addition to being responsible for managing the aforementioned aspects of the Lottery’s business, the new contract will also require Scientific Games to handle several other areas. These include interactive services, the next-generation lottery mobile app as well as warehousing and distribution services. The lottery already has a new distribution facility available.

Is Online Play on The Way?

Now, the announcement of the new next-generation lottery mobile app is very exciting. It will be available to mobile devices running both Android and iOS. The users will be able to view winning numbers in addition to checking tickets and second-chance promotions. Unfortunately, for now, that is just about it when it comes to the mobile lottery app.

South Carolina does not have any plans to offer online lottery games. This laxity when it comes to venturing into the online space and reliance on retail lottery bets has been quite devastating for the lottery due to the coronavirus pandemic. In other states where online lottery games are available, the increase in online sales is proof that it could be a worthy venture for the state.
