Betsson has officially completed its \u20ac64.5 million acquisition<\/a> of Rhino Entertainment’s Canadian operations, giving the global gaming group an established foothold in one of North America’s fastest evolving regulated online gambling markets while adding technology expected to support future B2B growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally announced in March, the transaction transfers Rhino’s Canadian licenses, operational infrastructure, customer-facing brands, staff, and selected technology assets to Betsson. The acquisition also includes proprietary front-end and middleware solutions that the company plans to leverage across its growing business-to-business division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Betsson, the deal got major funding from existing cash resources, with \u20ac51.25 million paid at closing and the remaining \u20ac13.25 million scheduled six months later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Established Canadian Presence Offers Immediate Growth Platform<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rather than building a presence from the ground up, Betsson inherits an operational business already active in Canada’s regulated gaming sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The portfolio includes Casino Days, which launched in Ontario<\/a> in 2023 before becoming one of the first operators to enter Alberta’s newly regulated iGaming market when it opened to private operators in July. Rhino also owns Big Boost and Lucky Spins, brands that continue serving players in other parts of Canada under licensing arrangements through the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The timing reflects the continued expansion of Canada’s regulated online gambling landscape. Ontario remains the country’s largest commercial iGaming market, while Alberta recently became only the second province to adopt an open licensing model for private operators. Other provinces are also being closely watched as potential candidates for future regulation, making an established Canadian platform increasingly valuable for international operators seeking long-term growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technology Acquisition Expands Betsson’s B2B Ambitions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The acquisition extends beyond consumer brands. Betsson also gains Rhino’s proprietary middleware and front-end technology, assets that support both internal operations and third-party licensing opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company said the additional technology is on track to strengthen its B2B offering by creating new licensing revenue streams while improving operational efficiencies across the wider business.
