The Illinois House has recently pushed through a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realmoneygambling.com\/news\/illinois-may-look-at-massive-gambling-legalization\/\">massive expansion of legal gambling<\/a> in the state, a move that has not only added new casino wagering opportunities but also legalized the long-awaited sports betting for the very first time.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The legislation which <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"passed the House Committee (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/wgntv.com\/2019\/06\/01\/illinois-one-step-closer-to-legalized-sports-gambling\/\" target=\"_blank\">passed the House Committee<\/a> on Friday, May 31, basically intends to introduce six new casinos each with sports betting parlors at the state arenas. In addition to that, the wider gaming expansion plans also happen to include the deployment of slot machines at airports. Do not get too excited though since <strong>the bill still has to be approved by full House and Senate before it is finally sent to the governor who will then sign it into law.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p>The House already voted 87-27 last Saturday to okay the plan\nand now the Senate and the governor are the only ones left. By passing the\ncomprehensive vertical, the House added close to $1 billion in total funding\nfor state and local infrastructure projects. According to the bill, some of\nthat funding is expected to come from sports betting which is perhaps the main\nfocus at the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"more-details-on-the-amendment\">More Details on the Amendment<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>The state&#8217;s new vertical funding bill comprises of a <a href=\"https:\/\/thesouthern.com\/news\/local\/govt-and-politics\/expanded-gambling-legislation-advances-to-senate\/article_cc27b2d3-5cfb-5697-930e-8482681383a3.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"multi-faceted gambling package (opens in a new tab)\">multi-faceted gambling package<\/a> whose headline is a mega-casino in Chicago. In addition to that, the measure further offers six more categories of licensures for Illinois sports betting and these include:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Supplier<\/li><li>Occupational<\/li><li>Master sports wagering<\/li><li>Central system provider<\/li><li>Management services provider<\/li><li>Tier 2 official league data provider<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>All these categories will allow casinos, sports venues as\nwell as racetracks to offer sports betting in both retail and online formats. Moreover,\nthe amendment further authorizes a\n2,500-location lottery implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>As it stands, the fee of a master sports betting license is\ncalculated based on gross gaming revenue from the previous year. The operators\nwill, therefore, be required to spend 5 percent of the gross gaming revenue in\norder to be allowed to offer sports betting services for the next four years \u2013\nthis 5 percent will be capped at $10 million<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, the sports betting operators may also be able\nto offer online betting once they receive a license for that particular\nvertical.
