Last Thursday, renowned casino and entertainment operator Penn National Gaming officially opened the doors to its new gambling venue. Located at the York Galleria Mall in Springettsbury Township, York County, the new gambling facility is the latest Category 4 satellite casino to go live in the Keystone State. It is a big push for the state’s gambling expansion plans that lawmakers signed into law back in 2017.

What To Expect

Penn National Gaming has always had a reputation for pushing the limits when it comes to ensuring customer satisfaction. With the mini-casino, it is no different. The Category 4 satellite casino covers more than 80,000 square feet. The space features a massive gaming floor that can accommodate over 500 slot and video poker machines. In addition to that, it can hold up to a whopping 24 table games.

For sports betting enthusiasts, the mini-casino also happens to include a retail Barstool Sportsbook. This section of the casino has a 20-foot wall of high-definition TVs, tellers, bar-top video poker, self-service sports betting, and racing kiosks.

“We’re thrilled to be opening our 43rd property in North America, our third in the Commonwealth, and showcasing Hollywood Casino York’s unique style of premier gaming, dining, and entertainment in a truly modern atmosphere. Importantly, it has been an honor to be welcomed by Springettsbury Township and the surrounding communities, creating new jobs, and starting a new economic engine right here in York County.”

Todd George, Executive Vice President of Operations for Penn National.

One other thing that players can look forward to is the operator’s cardless, cashless, contactless ‘mywallet’ technology. This was in collaboration with Everi Holdings and Acres Manufacturing with the aim being to offer safer experiences and enhance efficiency.

TheScore Acquisition

Penn National Gaming has also recently entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Canada-based digital media company TheScore. The deal is estimated to be worth a whopping US$2 billion in both cash and stock. Already, the transaction has received unanimous approval from the boards of directors of both companies.

This is a great move forward for Penn National Gaming’s very ambitious growth and expansion plans. It will even apply to its recently-opened mini-casino operation. They will benefit immensely from TheScore’s unique media platform and modern state-of-the-art technology. That will be a ” powerful complement to the reach of Barstool Sports and its popular personalities and content.”

Their offerings complement each other in many ways and that is going to be great for the customers.
